Where were you when you heard the name, Kelvin Doe? The 16 year old from Sierra Leone spoke at TEDxTeen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aQ2h3VaC3c. Growing up in Sierra Leone, as a young boy he would pick scrap metal and discarded electronic devices and invent gadgets. He invented a radio transmitter and started broadcasting as Dj Focus giving a voice to young people in his community.
At a tender age of 14 he built a generator from scrap metal through a competition he enrolled in called GMin Innovate Salone. He was subsequently invited to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on the ‘Visiting Practitioner’s Programme’ becoming the youngest person ever to be afforded that privilege.
